Successful Test-run for Auxiliary Feed Water Pump for Nuclear Power Plants

03.31.2009
On March 10, the Hydraulic Machinery Department at HHI-EMD successfully conducted a test run of the Auxiliary Feed Water Pump, which it had manufactured on its own.
The Auxiliary Feed Water Pump is subject to the strictest inspections during engineering and manufacturing processes because of its most important function in rapidly cooling the melting nuclear reactor under emergency conditions such as a black - out or an earthquake in nuclear power plants.
Korea has up to now imported Auxiliary Feed Water Pumps due to a lack of technological expertise. However, HHI-EMD finally conducted a successful test run, navigating the difficult processes from engineering through manufacturing stages under severe nuclear regulations.
During the trial run, our first article was proved to be more efficient and performed better than those of overseas competitors and was given a favourable reception by our customer.
This success in the first article of the Auxiliary Feed Water Pumps for Shin-Wol Sung No.1 and No.2 Nuclear Power Plants prepares HHI-EMD for the increasing demand for the construction of Nuclear Power Plants, and also helps diversify business and adds to sales volume as well.
