HHI participated in the 26th Havana International Fair, which was held at ExpoCuba from November 3rd to the 8th.

HHI participated in the fair to help build and improve business relations with Cuba and other South American nations. HHI’s exhibition displayed various catalogues and brochures for the HHI-EMD HiMSEN engines, Diesel Generators, Pumps, and a variety of products from the Offshore & Engineering Division, Industrial Plant Division, and Electro-Electric Systems Division.

The fair was attended by representatives of the Shipbuilding, Offshore & Engineering, and Power Generation industries, as well as exhibitors from a variety of business fields ranging from liquor sales to household goods. In total, 1400 companies from 56 nations attended the fair, with booths set up for companies from Cuba, Korea, Brazil, Canada, Germany, Spain, Venezuela, Italy, China, France, and Mexico. More than one million visitors attended the fair, a vast increase from the previous year. Among the visitors were 26 minister-level representatives from countries throughout the world. Contracts amounting to US$350 million were signed during the 6-day event.

More than 50,000 visitors visited the Korean Booth where HHI, KOTRA, Samsung Electronics, and Kumho Tire booths were set up. Visitors showed a special interest in HHI's miniature Packaged Power Station and Diesel Power Plant models, which have become well-known to Cuban society. Long lines formed to see the miniature models, while locals who had worked at the actual installation sites introduced the products.

Ramiro Valdez, the Cuban Minister of Information and Communications, the Venezuelan National Electricity Company (VNEC), and 20 other national agencies and companies visited the HHI booth to discuss business opportunities. Rodolfo Navarro, head of the VNEC’s Electricity Generation Department, at a meeting with Senior Vice-President Cheong Byung-Ok, head of HHI’s Cuban Site, showed a deep interest in HHI's Diesel Power Plants and requested that HHI personnel visit Venezuela to make a presentation regarding the HHI Power Generation System.

The 26th FIHAV included events for children and had food stalls that sold dishes from around the world. The fair left everyone involved with a good impression of Cuban society as a whole. HHI enjoyed a successful week, with the meetings it held an important stage in its advancement into the South American marketplace.
