An Order for Packaged Power Stations from the Kurdistan Regional Government

HHI-EMD signed a contract with the Kurdistan Regional Government in March, 2007, worth $32 million. Under the contract, 301.7MW Packaged Power Stations (PPS) will be delivered and installed at Sulaymaniyah to help meet the demand for electric power. It will be the first stage of a 300MW power project.
The PPS is a movable generating facility using a HiMSEN 9H21/32 engine. The generator, engine and everything else is arranged inside a 40 ft long container. The PPS makes it possible to save on installation costs, minimize the installation period, lower operation & maintenance costs, and can also be easily transported to places where there is a demand for electric power. Another feature of the PPS is that it is designed for the base load operation with HFO and DO, achieving power generation at minimum costs. When Nouri al-Maliki, the prime minister of Iraq, visited HHI in April, he had a great deal of interest in the PPS, expressing his intention to buy large quantities of them. He also requested that HHI take an active part in the rehabilitation project after the war. Additional orders are expected from the Middle East, including Iraq, thanks to this opportunity.
