An Order for 10RTA96C engine from CSBC for 5,500 TEU Boxship

Taiwan based CSBC has recently ordered a main propulsion engine and auxiliary diesel generating sets to HHI-EMD on a package basis for their newbuilding of 5,500 TEU boxship under Hull Nos. of 801/802 being built for Yang Ming Line in Taiwan.

The contract unveils that the order represent the supply of two HYUNDAI-SULZER 10RTA96C having a power of 74,700 bhp each engine and its auxiliary diesel generating sets of eight HYUNDAI-MAN B&W 7L27/38 diesel engines generating electric power of 2,100 kW per engine.
The delivery of main engines and diesel generating sets are slated for August 2003 to January 2004.

Yang Ming has been in operation of seven 5,500 TEU boxships of same series with satisfaction, among which five were built by HHI shipyard and the rest by CSBC. All of their boxships were equipped with Hyundai built main propulsion engine and auxiliary diesel generating sets. Yang Ming’s recent choice of main propulsion package to HHI is evidence of their firm reliance on HHI for its superb performance and reliability in aspect of quality, delivery and aftermarket service.

Yang Ming and HHI has been enjoying the excellent cooperation and mutual collaborative relationship in the field of newbuilding as well as the supply of main engines since the first delivery of 10L80MC for newbuilding of 3,500 TEU boxship project in 1994.
