Signed MOU with KEPCO for 'Carbon-free Distributed Generation Development and Business Cooperation'

HD Hyundai Heavy Industries signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Korea East-West Power Co. on Thursday, February 6, for “carbon-free distributed generation development and business cooperation”.

The signing ceremony was held at HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, and was attended by Myung-ho Kwon, President of KEPCO, and Ju-seog Han, COO of Engine & Machinery Business, to discuss cooperation for sustainable energy transition. Through this agreement, the two companies plan to develop distributed energy technologies and business models utilizing ammonia/hydrogen-fueled powerful engines, aiming to preempt the carbon-free energy market and lead the new energy paradigm.

“It is time for both companies representing each industry to respond quickly to achieve national greenhouse gas reduction targets, Through this business agreement, we look forward to deriving a business model in the clean distributed energy sector that can respond to national policies such as carbon neutrality and the activation of distributed energy.” said Myung-ho Kwon, President of KEPCO.

“We look forward to successfully leading innovative projects, such as the development of carbon-free energy technology and the establishment of a distributed power generation business model utilizing ‘eco-friendly fuel-powered engines’ by combining our technologies and know-how, we ensure that both companies are at the forefront of creating clean, safe energy for future generations.” said Ju-seog Han, COO of Engine & Machinery Business.
