HHI-EMD has received an order to supply 1 unit of 1-MW capacity PPS from Energia Equisqueya S.A. in the Dominican Republic and 2 units of 1.5-MW capacity PPS from EGE Haina in the same country. Hyundai’s own specially designed medium-speed 4-stroke HIMSEN engines will be incorporated into the above orders as prime movers (6H21/32 engine for the 1-MW PPS and 9H21/32 engine for the 1.5-MW PPSs). The ordered PPSs will be designed for continuous HFO running under base load and handed over to the customers in 6 months.

HHI-EMD has been going ahead with a lot of discussion over the PPS since the PPS stood in the spotlight of worldwide customers, especially independent power producers and factory owners. The main reason is that the PPS can be the best solution to produce electricity in the cheapest way and that the PPS may be the only solution to supply electricity in an area where main power transmission is not available. For instance of the latter case, a supply of more than 10 units of PPS is under negotiation with one African country.
